Making Memories
Sculpture
Medium: Bronze
This unique commissioned bronze is my latest creation. It is the second casting of a tenkara fisherman, a sculpture of a man and his young daughter going fishing. A major part of the fishing adventure is quality time spent together. Note the camera around the man's neck for recording the experience. Thus I call it making memories. The little girl will always remember a trip with daddy with his Tenkara fly rod .
The Tenkara fishing rod telescopes into the handle but can extend 12 or 14 feet. It has a 12 foot line and no reel , so it can cast about to 25 feet, which is adequate for most stream fishing.
Cast in lost wax bronze, it is a monument to filial love and memory making. The base is natural sand river rocks gathered from ocean beaches in Oregon. The water is clear epoxy resin. It is unique and cannot be duplicated and will bring continual pleasure as it increase's in value with time. It is an important collectors piece.
(Quote from Facebook response after Jacob received the original sculpture.)
"Many of my fly fishing friends have custom rods or fancy gear, but I would venture to say that none of them have a custom sculpted bronze statue of them and their favorite fishing buddy (In my case Ruby. My 5 year old daughter).
It took almost 1.5 years, but I could not be more pleased with the results. I am very grateful for the hard work of Stephan Seable. He is a very talented man and a dear friend. May God bless him for creating this family heirloom. He titled it "Making Memories" and the name is more than appropriate. I would recommend him and his work to anyone.
My most cherished childhood memories are those created with my father as a boy in the mountains and streams riding on his shoulders, and now Ruby and I make our own memories. The sculpture is based around photos and sketches from a time when I was skinnier and Ruby was smaller.
Oh how I love Fly Fishing (Tenkara), but even more than that how I love my daughter."
