Winter Drift, original Painting

Winter Drift is one of my favorite large paintings. the inspiration came one cold winter morning at Lathrop Access on the Rouge River in Grants Pass. I was launching my drift boat. The air was still. Fog hung over the river nearly obliterating the sun in its futile effort to shine through, giving blue gray values to the landscape. It was a beautiful value study and seemed other worldly. I was transfixed for a while, as an inspired composition formed in my mind. A drift boat came into view quietly hissing through the water with the muffled bump of the oar locks and low murmuring voices. I knew I had a painting. As you stand quietly for a while, you can sometimes see Steelhead lying near the bank of the river waiting for the larger Chinook salmon to spawn so they can gobble up loose eggs. It was all over but the painting.

Available it in smaller size's in Giclee prints with a studio wrap on various archival papers in a tube for under 1000$, as well as repaints.
